  1. Ever try running this guy with a stealth squad? I ran a Old Ben targeting squad in the arena and got hilarious results.
    1. I ran a Nute Gunray lead (crits while stealthed)
    2. Leia, Dathcha, and Teebo all stealthed with Nute
    3. Old Ben got focused down
    4. All of my team got buffs
    5. I won.

    5
  2. Great Hero Jedi. Question- why is Obi-Wan not a “Rebel”? He is listed as a Jedi but why not also as a Rebel? Darth Vader is Sith and Empire.

    5
  3. Old Ben: as others have said, a one-trick pony, but damn what a trick. Have QGJ as leader, so OB usually has no problems getting Mind Trick off at least twice a round in a close arena match. Paired with a good tank (esp. ST Han), you can take control of the turn meters and clear out their hardest hitters, usually without losing anybody en route.

Yes, he’s not the hardest hitter for a while, but he really comes into his own once you promote him to 6-7*. Gear helps too, obv. I can now count on OB to connect for respectable crits (anywhere from 2.5-3k+) at least twice a round. Never seems to hit for less than 1.4k, and he’s still only G7.

Would like to experiment with him as a leader at some point, but for now I am happy with him as the bedrock of my squad (together with ST Han). Also, I’ve grown to enjoy waiting to see if the 70+ year old man will hit for peanuts or big yellow digits whenever his turn comes around. Sure, not the best character in the game – but def worth having on your roster, whether as a starter or in the GW bullpen.

  4. Alright let me just say this, Sure I may be attacked by some but it’s a fair opinion.
Every other Jedi Tank (Mace, Guard, and Plo) are not actually tanks. Their health isn’t balanced properly and they should be reworked I have him at 5* right now 38/85 down to get him to 6 and he can hang with most 7* like my Luminara but he is a great character but like everybody else said its a pain to get someone to kill him and get his buff. Right now I have a synergy going on between Eeth Koth and Qui Gon Jinn ( Speed if I know their faster ) ( defense if I know their slower) My main team right now is Ben, Lumi, Eeth, QGJ, and a Mace. They win quite often in my opinion even though Eeth is at 3 and very one is higher he can still hang around with my team. Ik I’m getting a bit off topic but old Ben completes it his mind tricks is really helpful when you know the other attacks are devistating.

    5
    • I second this.
~Mace Windu is not really a tank, but more of a “durable attacker” like Boba Fett. (Mace is a good counter to tanks, interestingly enough.)
~Jedi Knight Guardian is just a weak meat shield with horrible damage.
~Plo Koon Is more of a support, with numerous ways to grant allies Defense Up.
~The only other Jedi Tank is Kit Fisto, who is classified as an Attacker.

      5
  5. The only character besides rg that can beat 5s in a one on one. That said, he isn’t as great as he looks on paper because he has no taunt and ability block is a long cool down as other ppl already said

    4
  6. Useless…loss of resources

  7. Old Ben is a touch and go character. He like most Jedi hits pretty soft, he’s a tank that never gets targeted by AI or humans till the end, but yet I find I would often not want to face squads in PVP that use him. His mind trick can be devastating to the synergy of a team. He really is a one trick pony. I rarely ever get to mind trick more than once in a battle because of the absurdly long cooldown.

His leader ability is good on paper, but it doesn’t work as described. There’s no turn meter boosts. As for the evasion, it’s weaker than Dooku’s. If it worked properly, Old Ben could be a leadership contender in a turn meter manipulation squad, but for the time being he’s not leader material.

In GW I use him as a niche character when I need to do a mass ability block to let my harder hitters take out one or two guys unhindered. Not on my main lineup but I’m definitely happy to have him on my bench.

4* but could have 5 potential if his leader ability was fixed.

    4
    • His leader ability had been fixed and is now working as advertised. He is starting to pop up as a leader on my dooku lead dominated server.

      5
    • Hmmm As anyone tried to run Old Ben with an all steath squad… so he is targeted by the AI?

      0
  8. Why does the AI NEVER attack Obi-Wan in squad arena!??

    He always gets attacked last..

    0
    • because he’s a tank with naturally high evasion and extremely high resistance and armor and has over 30k health including protection at high level and he gives allies a vast array of +up’s when he dies (crit up, defense/armor/offense/evasion up etc.)

      it is frustrating though

      4
      • I think it’s only about the fact he gives a ton of buffs when he is killed. No other reason. But still sucks. Kills the whole point oh using him unless he gets a taunt ability later

        0
  9. When doing your charge up the arena, Ben is amazing. I have him at 7* Gear #9 paired with QGJ and he gets his mind trick off fairly quick. However, I have found that when people face Ben it is super easy to counter him with Yoda’s “Battle Mediation”. Because of that I have noticed that I drop really quickly in the ranks (Worst was going from rank #1 to #44 in 12 hours). So what I use Ben to work my way up to #1 then I take Ben out of my squad when I am done with my Arena for the day. Seems to have solved the problem with dropping in the ranks (Now I usually go from #1 to about #15 at the worst).

I have maxed out his If You Strike Me Down ability and have only actually used it probably 3 times so unfortunately Ben is usually the last one alive but he has pulled off some very close games due to his high health and being the last man standing against someone else.

His leader ability at level 7 is broken and evasion is not nearly as high as Dock’s and allies do not gain any turn meter upon evasion so don’t waste your mats like I did maxing out his leader ability until they fix that.

    5
    • On point about Old Ben, Yoda was his demise and without an upgrade such as 100% application of his Mind Tricks special he is no longer a viable option for arena if you want to stay in at the top where pretty much everyone has Yoda.

I would add also that those farming Old Ben for the Yoda challenge should stop immediately unless they want hours of frustration. It can be done, but much easier without him.

Pretty much seems like Old Ben is only good for GW (when you are not fighting Yoda) now. It’s probably why he became farmable and not P2P exclusively anymore.

  10. I want to try Obi as leader, with Lumi, Han, Fives, and Geo. The idea is turn meter control with Fives’ speed down, and Obi’s debuff keeping Han alive. I was thinking about switching Phasma w Fives for spd down but idk what to do. Thoughts?

    0
    • I’d say you should focus on your own squads turn meter and sub out fives for rebel pilot. That makes the foresight a guaranteed dodge which triggers 2 25% turn meter gains for the leadership bonus and his passive. I’d run that since the whole squad minus geo and Han have dodge up.

It’s an interesting idea and I think the shortcoming is dps which is why I’d use resistance pilot because he synergizes well with squads that dodge because of his passive. I often encounter him on dooku lead squads and he is a real pain!

I think if Han isn’t killed off first turn before obi can cast his mind trick it just might be highly competitive. I’d say go for it! Interesting idea

      0
      • Thanks for the feedback. I liked Fives tho because he can counter AoE from Sid and the like, and can pull assists (also my favorite clone from cw). You have a really good point though, thanks.

        0
        • Another thing I forgot; what about Biggs? He gets 100% turn meter and evasion up for 3 turns if he is hit by a crit.

          0
          • Biggs would be great with Dooku lead for that reason. Right now Dooku’s evasion is procing more than it should. Lumi recently dodged at least 6 hits in a row against me when she had evasion up. I had 5 on 1 against her and almost couldn’t take her down. Turn meter and offense up, that’s scary.

            0
          • Darth Blackman

any word on how this worked out?

            0
    • keep Fives because he speed down debuff’s on his basic (including counters) and then use Phasma instead of Geo. If you’re looking for TM control then Geo doesn’t fit that mold.

  11. Only-Wand Potter

So I decided to jump on the opportunity to get Old Ben for my Jedi team and consistently place top 5. He has officially sealed his spot once he got to 6 stars. His basic attack deals a solid 2.7k which is great for a jedi squad.

However, his real ability is mind tricks which can be absolutely brutal!!! I consistently face Dooku lead teams in arena and it can be quite annoying when they dodge mind trick and gain offense up….quite annoying. I run a full star team (1 blowdryer and 1 eyeball away from max gear). I run QGJ (L), Anakin, Lumi, Yoda, and Old Ben. Wow! They synergize amazingly! Yoda ensures that Ben will resist first turn and cast mind tricks and then bam! Game over.

Great hero who truly shines once he gets his 6th star and the level increased his rank by 500 points! Also it increased his base attack damage by 700! This guy is an absolute must for a jedi team.

    5
  12. Where is better place to farm him ?Holotable 2-F or Holotable 6-B, where is a higher chance in hb 6 -b?

    5
    • Same rate (33.3%) But by working on 2-F u get more shards because fights cost 8 energy instead of 12 energy so you can make more fights. But, you get less red balls for cantina shipments, and obviously less money (i find the 6B 5000$ reward amazing). I personally go on 6B because of cantina shipments, but that means a little less number of shards.

      0
  13. What about running him low levelled & low geared with max unique ability in order to get him dead by sid’s demoralizing blows / kylo’s outrage then play trolling with the other 4 chars with the 6 bonuses?
    LOL.

By the way, I’m 17º in my arena and I dropped out useless Phasma L + Daka for QGJ L + Obi since now he’s farmable (already have to unlock). Looks his mind trick works quite always (which is the most important thing: I spent time, coins and crystals for Asajj Ventress then I noticed her debuff works basically never, making her useless! I won’t make the same mistake twice)
My target team is QGJ L, Lumi, Obi, Sid, Dooku. He’ll be decently fast due to QGJ’s leader ability, making his mind trick before about half opponent’s team toons, which is amazing. On the other hand, people say his first move deals decent damage, therefore I’m going to invest in him.
Ability Block & Offense Down means less received bullets = so no need to heal or mind about the health = more shot bullets = victory.

    5
    • I was going to do the same with my Obi (low level bait to attack), but the AI absolutely never attacks him, unless AOE… Would be a nice troll though

      0
    • I have him with 4* level 42. Between AOE and counter attacks( count Douko). He dies pretty easily. With level 80 now I assume he will die even easier. I use fett as a leader ( 50 % crit damgage increase) with a team of AOE. Once I have buffs I use all my AOE attacks. It work most of the time. Mostly do this for fun. I will keep him weak for a while longer.

  14. I was fortunate enough to get Old Ben from a chromium drop, but being F2P I was a bit sad to watch him linger behind the rest of my squad. Now that he has shards available to farm, I’ve gotten him up to 5* and geared up to Gear 9. Once I get all but the last gear slot filled up (required level 80) and ranked up to 7* he’s going to be a tank.

His health is the highest on my team, and his damage is low but steady. His highlight is his debilitating Mind Trick ability, which lowers TM, ability blocks, and lowers offense of all enemies. You hate to save him for last with this ability, but with his health and high evasion, it’s hard not to.

    He’s a great support character.

    5
    • That’s true, but Phasma falls short of raw dps unless she has advantage, which can easily be removed whereas i liked geo because he (it?) can easily 1 shot a sidious or lumi before mind trick wears off. Thanks for your feedback tho.

      0
  15. Any word on how effective his leader ability is when it’s at 7? I’ve only got it at 4, but my team almost never dodges. The difference seems almost negligible. I’m debating between using Ben or Qui-Gon as my lead jedi.

    5
    • He provides the same amount of evasion as Dooku does and Dooku lead teams evade constantly (it’s really annoying).

      0
      • Obi-Wan’s evasion bonus works even if Obi-Wan dies, where as Dooku’s bonus stop working when he gets rekt (I’m not sure but i noticed, while playing, this difference and so i always kill Leader Dooku before the others. Instead, luminara works even if she’s dead).
And nobody with an healthy mind kills Obi-Wan before the others. So, Obi-Wan is better (no offense up, but 25% TM isn’t bad ar at all) for anche evasion team. Also people are scared from him (and his face) while searching the opponent to fight in arena.

        0
  16. Now that Old ben is available through the cantina battles, I have to ask, from anyone that has him at 7 stars, is he worth farming up to 7 stars? he performs pretty well as is, mostly because of his mind trick ability, and its not like he needs more health because no one, even the AI, is dumb enough to attack him. the additional damage from 3 extra stars would be nice though, it would make him a bit more of an offensive threat as well.

    5
    • If you’re going to have him on your team, get him to 7 stars because why not? You got someone else you’d rather have on your team? If so, farm them instead.

      0
    • What do you guys think of this team. 1.Old ben (leader), 2.Luminura(?), 3.Yoda, 4.Rey, 5.resistance pilot or bigg5.what do you guys think on evade team synergy?

      5
  17. Welp, looks like Old Ben is about to see a jump in frequency. They’re going to have to reevaluate his rating, too. He’s not gonna be a 5 for availability, anymore. Looking forward to finally getting him for myself!

    0
  18. How about boba fett as an alternative character for ben? I’m a f2p player and I wanted to upgrade him to 7* thru farming.

    5
  19. Quite possibly the best character in the game right now.

    5
  20. The best thing you can do against a team with Old Ben right now is Dooku lightning him first move (Admiral Ackbar is good too but slightly less reliable due to ability block). Unfortunately, with using lightning to stun Old Ben you lose out on the chance to stun FOTP or Geo Soldier which usually results in them one shotting someone on your team.
You could also take a chance if you have Daka too and hope that her stun procs.
Definitely, kill Old Ben last tho cuz his “On Death Effect” really fucks you.

    0
  21. Anyone has their old Ben level 70 with level 7 leader ability? I just upgraded mine to level 7 and the leader ability stop working. Whenever my toons evade an attack, there was no turn meter gain at all. When it was still level 5, whenever a toon evade attack it has that little sound and I see it gain the extra turn meter. Just wondering if this is a well knock bug.

    0
  22. Old Ben is tricky to play to full effect, although for me, he shines brightest as a post-Poe neuter following the taunt. He isn’t cheap, and costs a fortune to star up (the Mrs. has already gotten over it per my earlier Old Ben post here – mine has the shards now to hit 7-star for anyone who missed my earlier post), but he is (and should be!) excellent for certain team configs.

Imo, he is most lethal behind a Poe with 3 glass cannons backing him up. Not only does he cement the win if you win the Poe “coin-toss”, but can even swing it back even if you don’t win the toss.

He has a permanent role for me in my lineup. Just wish that Chromium exclusives weren’t so expensive – though I wouldn’t have sunk so much cash (~$2k, yikes!) into the game if all were avail for FtP, so I suppose it continues to make sense for EA/CG. Selfishly, I’d prefer he stay exclusive for a very long time, although I’m sure this is an unpopular opinion among everyone but us whales.

    5
    • You spent $2,000.00 on this game?

      0
    • Jesus Christ man. I spend 20 bucks and felt like it was a major letdown. I’ll stick with FTP from now on. Guys like you are why I’m happy to get under 200 on my server. Some dudes were already level 40 when I started.

Not hating though. Guys like you make EA able to put more into the game so everyone benefits from people like you. Eventually, everyone will be available somewhere. Like Ben is now.

      0
      • I haven’t spent a penny on this game. I don’t reward developers that act greedy, and no app is worth spending more than $5 on.

        0
      • I’ve spent maybe $40-50 total, been playing since launch, and I regularly get down to #25-#30. You don’t have to be p2p to get up the arena rankings. The computer is dumb, you should be able to win most of your matches.

        0
  23. He is the only one for the moment who could be upgraded to 9th level gear, making his power 6000. With at least 6th level primary attack he does very good damage. His 4th feature is useless as even AI in game leaves him last if you lose. But the special attack is absolutely awesome. He is extremely useful against teams based on counter/extra attacks (Duke, Ren, Phasma). It a pity u could get him only with chromium packs, it took me a while to make him 7 star, but he is definitely worth it.

    5
    • What if you don’t add gear/stars, and upgrade his special and passive; just let AI concentrate fire on him, kill him and get all the bonuses? His damage isn’t great anyway.

I see merit in keeping him alive for all the ability blocks+turn meter reduction, but just trying to think outside of box.

As stated elsewhere, dude is solid in PvP with QGJ as leader and Poe as tank.

I can live with QGJ (until recently) or Leia being paid characters, there are free alternatives. But Old Ben is something else.

      5
      • I considered leaving mine ungeared at a low star level, but can’t justify that with enough shards in hand to bring him to 7-star.

It could be very interesting though, I’d be scared for my AI defense against a “Paper Old Ben”.

        0
        • Well, don’t even consider it. Tried 4-5 times, in all battles AI chose to leave Ben as the last toon alive. And he has the lowest HP!

The damage from his basic attack is small. His block doesn’t apply on all toons, Phasma especially manages to avoid although she’d be the one you want to land it on. Others are way faster than Ben (Sid, Dooku, Poggle, etc) and use their special before he uses special, even though I have maxed out QGJ as Leader (+23 speed to Ben). His offense down rarely sticks either.

Overall, had a very bad experience taking him to arena.

Don’t believe the hype. Imo, Poggle is a better support for buffs than Old Ben.

          0
          • That is a shame. I had that thought also a while back, and thought it was fairly clever (though i do not have Ben at all, so could not test it). Sorry it did not work. Thinking outside the box is still fun, however.

            0
  24. Experimenting with him and stealth characters, Nute and Leia. It’s not every game, but I actually get his death buff off since stealth makes the other team attack him. Paired with a Nute’d Leia, you can have some crazy comeback wins- she has 100% crit once you get her or Obi wan’s crit buff, 25% turn meter per crit, can hit 3 times, has ridiculous speed, offense up, and extra crit damage. For me, she’s killed 3 of the enemy team before they had a chance to go again.

Then again, this combo is RNG based (Leia hitting just once sucks, Nute might not stealth at all, Leia/Nute can die before Obi), and it has lost me some games a more stable team would have won. Still tons of fun.

    5
  25. Old Ben is very good toon to have. Even @ 5* his health is still up to par with 7* oppositions. Old Ben will frustrate your opponents in Arena, and make them rethink their own team.

His ability block and offense down is a game changer & if you can get his main attack at Level 6 or Level 7 it deals heavy damage.

Ben is a healing teams worst nightmare and will allow you the advantage and give you time to knock out the healers before they are usefull.

    5
  26. Got the shards to 7-star my Old Ben. The wife isn’t happy about the $1500, but she’ll get over it.

    0
  27. On his description it says he has a self revive, does he actually revive himself or is that just them talking about the Buffs when he dies?

Other than that he is on my team for nearly every match I play. He’s in my top five

    4
  28. If you strike me down ability says for lvl 5 +15% health up for allies, does that mean that their max health is just increased by 15% or that they heal for 15% of their max health for 2 turns?

If it is just an increase in max health then does it also add the 15% to their current health total or is just an empty 15% that can be healed into?

    0
  29. If you see him on a team and have admiral Akbar, lobby or Barris, you’d make your life way easier by using one or more

    4
  30. I got him in a Chromium pack a few days ago and I’m utterly blown away by how potent he is. His damage and on-hit effect aren’t all that great, however they are offset by his substantial health and his absurdly strong special attack.Pop his special attack on a team at the start of a match and you will essentially cripple their ability to heal, taunt, control and damage. All in all, having Old Ben on early PvP teams is essentially an easy win.

    5
  31. Where or How can you get him?

    0
  32. Probably the scariest character in the game right now. When I see Old Ben on the enemy team, I know it’s going to be an extremely hard fight. His AoE is probably the single best ability in the game. It packs an ability block, offense down, and turn meter reduction all in one fell swoop…and affects the entire team. If you focus him down to prevent him from using this over and over, his passive kicks in and makes your life miserable. Not to mention the fact that he is very tanky. An all around nightmare.

  33. yo his ability block 1 turn + the offense down 3 turns legit CRIPPLES a team. that move alone would make anyone good. 3 turns in enough to win.
oh and also, offense down is 50% as stated on this site.

  34. TERRIBLE abilities. He is a TANK (so no one would want to kill him) yet his 4th ability is ONLY good if someone kills him. Why would ANYONE kill a tank who gets evasion from his 1st ability before everyone else? DO NOT use Obi-Wan he is utterly useless. His 2nd ability is REALLY good but definitely not a good enough reason to have him on your team.

    • you must think earth maul is bad too lol. His abilities get retarded after 3 people die. But when you’re getting your dps is going down for the whole team and you’re crit based, you should consider sniping him out. Tie pilot destroys tanks easy, with a bug chance to triple shot and like 80% crit chance I can down a tank in 1 turn.

      • Darth maul IS bad. But that’s besides the point. Obi is really good. It only sucks that his star level is practically impossible to level up.

    • With the second ability maxed out you can almost keep the opposing team at 50% offense for the whole match. But he deals very mediocre damage, so make sure you pair him with high damage and damage/speed buff characters so you can take out your opponent’s high value characters early, while the debuffs are still active. The ability block is also a nice counter for chewy’a taunt in pvp.

    • haha…ha. I’ve now read you ranting on how horrible Jin, and Ben, are. Perhaps you and I are playing different games. A viable argument can be made for those 2 being the 2 best jedi, and even conservativly, i’s see no way they are not both in the top 5 jedi options. I’m going to recommend you just avoid using jedi all together.

    • He could do with an auto taunt ability when ever a Jedi is below 50% health.

      • That would secure his position as probably the most valuable choice for a Jedi team, and would certainly make Jedi teams in general more valuable (right now there are so many different characters designed specifically to counter Jedi that they could use some help).
